CLIMATE

Ethiopia is located between the equator and the Tropic of Cancer making it a tropical zone. By elevation it also has three different types of climate zones. Kolla is the tropical zone below 1830 meters in elevation there is an average of 27 degrees Celsius and about 510 millimeters of rainfall during the year.
The Danakil Depression  or desert is about 125 meters below sea level and it gets the hottest weather up to 50 degrees Celsius. The cool zone is called Dega and is 2440 meters in elevation with temperature that averages 16 degrees and rainfall that averages between 1270 and 1280 millimeters.
The Woina Dega is the subtropical zone there are highlands in this region that are 1830-2440 meters in elevation. the average temperature is around 22 degrees Celsius with rainfall between 510 and 1530 millimeters.
Summer (Kiremt or Meher) takes place during June, July, and August. There is also heavy rain fall during this time. Spring (Tseday) takes place during Septmeber, October, and November. this is also the harvest season. Winter (Bega) takes place during December, January, and February. This is also the dry season. Autumn (Belg) takes place during March, April, and May. May is also the hottest month.
